Functions

The Hibiscus Coast Municipality Protection services Department provides a traffic enforcement programme responsible for:

  • Investigation and implementation of scholar patrols
  • Educational programmes – Child Traffic Programs
  • Identification of engineering problems e.g. road markings and traffic signs
  • Attending motor vehicle collisions
  • Assisting with volume counts
  • Incident management of national routes
  • Community participations with regard to traffic matters
  • Co-ordination of speed enforcement programmes
  • Participation with Provincial departments such as the Arrive alive Campaign
  • Assistance with special functions
  • Assistance with specialised events at mayoral and ministerial level
  • Community driven awareness campaigns
  • Pedestrians education programmes
  • Extending patrols into the rural areas for visibility and education programs
