Functions

  • Maintain an efficient and uninterrupted service to serve the needs of the communities within the Hibiscus Coast District in terms of the Integrated Development Plan, and to ensure life safety and protect property
  • Institute the decentralisation of the Fire Services with the establishment of substations in key areas to ensure that ALL inhabitants of the Hibiscus Coast Municipal district have free and equal access to all the services provided by the Fire Department during times of crisis, in accordance with the Batho Pele Principles
  • Provide a professional, fulltime, 24 hour operational Fire Service to ensure rapid response to any emergency incident for the preservation of life and property.
  • Effective enforcement of the current Hibiscus Coast Municipal Fire Bylaws
  • Assisting the farming community with the establishment of local Fire Prevention Associations between the farming community and neighbouring rural residents to safeguard all members from damage to life and property caused by runaway veld fires, to promote good relations and communication between all parties involved, and to formulate efficient control burning methods for the benefit of all concerned.

 

Services

  • Implementation of the new Disaster Management Centre in partnership with the UGU District Municipality.
  • Relocation of 24 Hour Emergency Control Centre to the new Disaster Centre.
  • Decentralisation of Fire Services: Implement satellite stations at Port Edward, Nzimakwe MPCC, Gamalakhe, Murchison, KwaMadlala MPCC, and Hibberdene
