Town Planning
The Town Planning Section comprises of four core functions i.e. development planning, planning control, planning enforcement and environment.
- It is responsible for processing development applications such as special consents, subdivisions, rezonings, relaxation applications and scrutinising of building plans.
- The section provides information on the zoning and land use regulations, environment for properties within the municipality
- Investigates contraventions of the town planning scheme and takes the necessary legal steps against offenders to ensure compliance with the town planning scheme and Council by-laws.
- It is responsible for spatial/ forward planning interventions such as Urban Renewal Project, Beach Front Development Framework.
- Deals with any queries relating to zoning and land use controls for properties that fall within the municipality
Functions

- To enforce development control procedures to ensure compliance with the planning by-laws
- To manage land use in order to provide safe and healthy living environment
