HCM AND LOVELIFE INTRODUCED GOGO-GETTER TALK FREE PROGRAMME
Hibiscus Coast Municipality in conjunction with loveLife introduced a talk free dialogue affectionately known as Gogo – getter programme.
This educational programme was formally introduced to Senior Citizens, Learners and interested community members who attended the dialogue at the Gamalakhe Zibambeleni Launcheon Club on Friday the 26th of June 2009.
The purpose of the dialogue is to enhance communication between young and senior citizens and to ensure that the Senior Citizens, such Gogos are able to talk freely and advice the younger generation on issues like teenage pregnancy, sex, drugs and substance abuse.
Amongst the stakeholders who attended the dialogue were Genesis, loveLife, Gogogetter from Zibambeleni Luncheon Club, Hibiscus Coast Municipality and Learners from ward 26, ward 27 and ward 28
LoveLife ground breakers played a prominent role by spreading information through drama performances and encouraging youth to abstain from sex and drug abuse.
This programme was introduced under the theme ‘’Love them enough to talk about sex, drug & substance abuse’’. Ms Bongie Ngilande, the Special Programmes Officer of the Hibiscus Coast Municipality indicated that together with all the stakeholders, they are aiming at escalating this programme to all areas of the Hibiscus Coast Municipality.
