OFFICIAL OPENING
GAMALAKHE SPORTSGROUND
As part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup buildup, the Hibiscus Coast Municipality is pleased to announce the official opening and handover of the sportsground to the community of Gamalakhe. This event will be held on Saturday, 02 May 2009. The stadium, which boasts a high quality pitch and floodlights for those evening games will be put to the test during the opening; in the form of a sports competition to be played by members of the community, including men’s and women’s soccer as well as netball. The preliminary stages of these games will be played on Friday 01 May 2009 so that only the finals will be played on 02 May 2009.
The winners of all categories will receive prizes ranging from medals to playing kits. On this day there will also be a big screen viewing of the Soweto derby between soccer giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Local artists will provide entertainment for the day.
The people of Gamalakhe are invited to come enjoy this fun filled day of activities with their families.
